STS Forum 2024

The Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum is an annual gathering that brings together global leaders in science, technology, policy, and industry to discuss the role of science and technology in addressing societal challenges. The 21st Annual Meeting of STS Forum 2024 took place in Kyoto, Japan, from October 6 to 8.

The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) has supported and funded my selection as a Young Leader, representing Thailand at the prestigious STS Forum. Following an application and interview process, this global gathering of leaders and experts in science, technology, and innovation selected me alongside four other Thai researchers. This opportunity provided me with valuable experiences that have deeply influenced my perspective on the future of science and policy.

One of the most impactful sessions I attended was "Dialogue with Nobel Laureates." This session provided an incredible opportunity to engage directly with some of the world’s greatest minds, whose groundbreaking work has shaped modern science. The discussions were insightful and covered a broad range of topics, from advances in medicine and physics to the ethical implications of new technologies. It was inspiring to hear firsthand how these laureates approached problem-solving and innovation.

Another key moment during my time at the STS Forum was my participation in a round table discussion. I had the privilege of joining a small group of experts from various fields and countries, where we exchanged ideas and explored solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges. As the round-table secretary, I took notes and summarised the discussions, which revolved around integrating green technology and innovation to address environmental issues.

My experience at the STS Forum has expanded my network and opened up exciting opportunities for future collaboration. I am excited to bring what I have learnt back to Thailand, where I hope to continue contributing to the advancement of green technology and sustainability. The knowledge exchange, the thought-provoking discussions, and the relationships built during this forum will undoubtedly shape my work moving forward.
